CP Soccer National Team Program Invitational
We are thrilled to announce the official launch of the CP Soccer National Team, created for high-level players with cerebral palsy (CP), stroke, or traumatic brain injury (TBI), ages 15 and older, who have been identified by our coaching staff for their exceptional ability and potential.
This team represents the highest level of competition within CP Soccer US and will represent CP Soccer on the national and international stage. As players progress through local programming and demonstrate ability and commitment, they may be identified for advanced opportunities, such as our national team development pathway.

The CP Soccer National Team will officially begin activities in 2026. Our first camp — which will also serve as our initial development and evaluation camp — will be held in February 13-16 in Florida.
Additional details regarding dates, location, and logistics will be shared directly with invited players and families.
Financial Aid & Funding: The CP Soccer National Team Program operates as a separate, self-funded program. Because of this structure, financial aid will not be available for the initial tryout and development camp. Beginning later in 2026, we expect to offer financial assistance for players who qualify, based on need and available funding.
Coaching Leadership
The team will be led by Head Coach Peter McGahey, who coached CP Soccer’s inaugural international squad in Uruguay this past fall. Coach McGahey brings extensive experience in athlete development, adaptive soccer, and high-performance competition.

To build a sustainable pipeline of elite talent, CP Soccer facilitates a U15 Juniors Program designed to identify younger players (under age 15) who are poised to transition into the CP Soccer National Team Program for ages 15+. This structured pathway allows promising athletes to gain experience, receive higher-level coaching, and showcase commitment before stepping into the senior national team environment.
Those selected from the U15 Juniors Program, regional camps, and other development events will earn opportunities to trial for and attend National Team camps — the first step in representing CP Soccer and the United States on the international stage.

CP Soccer is recognized as one of U.S. Soccer’s Disability Service Organizations (DSOs). DSOs serve athletes of all ages and abilities by providing soccer opportunities for people with physical disabilities and are part of U.S. Soccer’s broader effort to expand inclusive soccer pathways nationwide. Being part of this network helps CP Soccer align with national standards, access resources, and connect players to broader competitive opportunities.
U.S. Soccer’s Disability Soccer Committee and Extended National Teams initiatives reflect a growing emphasis on disability soccer, integrating organizations like CP Soccer into a larger ecosystem of opportunity. (U.S. Soccer)

The CP Soccer National Team Program is an invite-only elite pathway for high-level athletes ages 15 and older who have been identified by our coaching staff for competitive potential. This team will hold multiple national training camps and compete internationally beginning in 2026.
While the current focus is on the men’s national program, CP Soccer is committed to launching an equivalent girls and women’s national team pathway once the men’s program is fully established and operational. This expansion will provide equitable opportunities for female athletes with CP, stroke, or TBI who aspire to compete at the highest level.
